Student Voices video
In September of 2021 Christian Huble, Catrina Huynh-Weiss, Kate Foley and I founded Student Voices, an initiative that support students in higher education through recorded interviews. The idea of of creating a platform where students can connect took root during the pandemic. Student data showed increased feelings of alienation and isolation. We set out to create a virtual space where students can find community and belonging. In the past 3 years, Student Voices has grown into a well-known organization within Minneapolis College walls and a little bit beyond. In the past year and a half, we produced over 20 interviews, collaborated with the University of Minnesota and the State Department of Education. Our team faced challenges, and together we designed solutions, wrote strategies and wore many hats as our responsibilities grew. Student Voices won the Minnesota State Innovation Grant twice in 2021 and 2022, and won two Creativity and Innovation Awards. I am beyond proud of our work and of the team that doubled in size since 2021. Videos are also currently undergoing voice-over editing to be fully accessible when published on YouTube, so some of them may not be available here.
